Venice rain 2008

A trip to Venice where the sun was most certainly not shining, infact the opposite, torrential rain fell,  rivers of water but mercifully no tourists.  I was seeing Venice as very few do, only the sound of the rain and water cascading from gutters and downpipes when punctuating this,  a cheerful whistling and a local guy splashing through the puddles, brolly in hand, obviously enjoying the space.

Shot on film at a decisive moment, this print captures that moment.  The slightly granular structure of the film is evident in the image, an absolutely unique,  unrepeatable and truly analogue moment by Martin Brent
